Where Is Marijuana Legal? A Guide to Marijuana Legalization

As of my knowledge cutoff in 2021, marijuana legalization laws vary by country and state. Here is a brief guide to where marijuana is legal:

Countries where marijuana is legal:

Uruguay: In 2013, Uruguay became the first country in the world to legalize marijuana. The government regulates the production, sale, and consumption of marijuana through licensed pharmacies.

Canada: In 2018, Canada legalized marijuana for recreational use. Each province and territory has its own laws regarding the sale and consumption of marijuana.

Georgia: In 2018, Georgia decriminalized marijuana possession and consumption but has not yet legalized its sale or production.

South Africa: In 2018, South Africa's Constitutional Court legalized the use and cultivation of marijuana for personal use.

Mexico: In 2021, Mexico's Supreme Court declared the prohibition of marijuana for personal use to be unconstitutional. However, the country has yet to pass legislation regulating its production and sale.
